Afternoon trekking to Roque Nublo - the sacred rock in Gran Canaria. If you plan to see this unique natural attraction and you like walking in the mountains in peace and without crowds, I recommend the hiking trail from the parking lot at 12 km on the road GC-60 to Roque Nublo. Roque Nublo - Rock of the Clouds
You can get to Roque Nublo (in the translation: the Cloud Rocks) by several trekking routes. One of them starts from a small parking lot on the GC-60 road.

It is really cold in the mountains in the evening. You have to dress well because after sunset, there are about 10 degrees Celsius.

The last rays of the setting sun illuminate Roque Nublo (1813 m) - the second highest peak in Gran Canaria. We must hurry down to the car in the parking lot because in the Canary Islands it gets dark very quickly. Here is a dark night half an hour after sunset.

December view of the sun setting behind Roque Nublo. To take this photo I had to be patient because for half an hour before sunset the whole view was obscured by clouds. The temperature dropped to 5 degrees Celsius and a strong wind was blowing. Just before sunset, the clouds thinned for a few minutes and this was the view. Perseverance was rewarded.
