Weather in January on Gran Canaria

We were wondering if in January it will not be too cold ... It was not. There was summer weather 22-25 Celsius degrees in Maspalomas and on the south coast. You could sunbathe on the beach and bathe in the ocean. It was much colder in the mountains at an altitude above 1000 m. At the very top (eg at Roque Nublo) at sunset it was really cool: 9-10°C and wind. It is worth taking long trousers, a polar fleece and even a windbreaker when you go to the mountains.

Places to visit in Gran Canaria

We stayed at a hotel in Maspalomas. It's a good location. There is the warmest place in the south of the island. There are beaches, dunes and is close to the mountains, and the highway can go and in several minutes to the capital of the island of Las Palmas.

It is worth going from Maspalomas along the south coast, but not on the highway, just the winding route No. GC-500 by Arguineguin, Puerto Rico, Taurito to Puerto De Mogan. On the way you can stop on a few very beautiful beaches - sandy (the most crowded), stony and pebble - there are also nudist beaches.

You can leave Maspalomas via the GC-60 road to see the mountains, the highest peak of the island of Pico de Las Nieves and the most famous rocks: Roque Nublo, Roque Bentayga. We also used the side roads, eg GC-600, GC-606, GC-210, GC-605, GC-503, GC-505.

The capital of the island of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is another place worth visiting. There you must see Plaza de Santa Ana and the Cathedral of Santa Ana, the old town and the Columbus museum Casa de Colón (free entry). There you also have to see the port and the beach of Las Canteras in Las Palmas.

It is worth coming to the botanical garden in Jardín Botánico Viera y Clavijo in Tafira Alta (it's easy to find on Google maps by pasting its name) - free entry.

We were in Gran Canaria for 14 days - it is definitely not enough ... We will definitely come back here for a long time because we left a lot of places to visit.
