Trekking on the peninsula St. Lawrence (Ponta de São Lourenço) in the north-east of Madeira. It's a great place for easy trekking with amazing views - the route is about 6 kilometers both ways. It is worth going there in the afternoon - we arrived at the beginning of the trail before 5 pm. There were no problems with a place for a car in the parking lot, the trail was almost empty, and the setting sun beautifully lit the rocks... It's a great place for photographers - there are beautiful sunrise and sunset here

Hiking on the St. Lawrence peninsula
The trail on the São Lourenço peninsula is neither difficult nor long. There is no shade on the way during the walk, and the sun shines strongly ... so you should take water to drink with you and a hat or cap on your head. It is also worth taking a bathing suit because there are beaches along the trail and you can swim in the ocean.

Beach at the St. Lawrence Peninsula
A small pebble beach on the São Lourenço peninsula - you can sunbathe and swim in the ocean here. I marked the exact location of the beach on the map.

The coast of Madeira is rather rocky - steep cliffs fall into the ocean - this is not an island of many beaches.

On the way back we decided to cool down a bit in the ocean. I recommend the "beach" Praia das Sardinhas near the Casa do Sardinha hostel.
