If you already see the most famous places on the island: Oia and Fira, I recommend a trip to much less crowded places: Pyrgos and Emporio. There you can admire the architecture and feel the atmosphere of the real Santorini in peace, away from the crowd.

We stopped by the large church of Agios Nikolaos Marmaritis in the center of the village of Emporio. It is hard to believe that the island of 76 square kilometers has over 300 churches and chapels.

Emporio is a small town, so discovering it with a visit to the restaurant took less than 3 hours. I recommend exploring this other world. It is completely different there than in the popular tourist attractions of Santorini.
