This was how the Royal Castle of Stockholm looked before the fire in 1697. Model of the royal castle in the palace museum.
Gate and entrance in the southern facade of the palace. Delightful architecture and beautiful sculptures!
The throne and Throne Room (Hall of State) of the Swedish King. Modestly, but do not worry - there will be gold, marble and crystals ...
The Museum at the Royal Palace is very large. It is worth planning a visit for a few hours.
Stockholm - visiting the Royal Palace
Gold, marbles, crystals, sculptures, paintings, furniture, mosaics ... the museum in the palace is worth a visit without haste.
Beautiful historic interiors can be admired for hours. This is really beautiful! I recommend a museum in the Royal Palace, Vasa Ship Museum and Fotografiska museet for photo enthusiasts.
Lutheran cathedral in the old town of Stockholm (Sankt Nikolai kyrka).
Church of St. Nicholas in Stockholm
Stockholm Cathedral - Storkyrkan in Gamla Stan district.
Saint George and the Dragon (Sankt Göran och draken) by Bernt Notke - medieval wooden sculpture in Stockholm Cathedral (Storkyrkan - The Great Church).
Nordic Museum (Nordiska museet) - you can see here the cultural history and ethnography of Sweden.
The interior of the museum and the lobby make a huge impression.
Perhaps not in these times ... but from the exhibition of the Nordic Museum it seems that in the old days ...
Symmetrical architecture in the museum - this building is very interesting.
The maritime museum in Stockholm showing the ship "Vasa" from the seventeenth century. This is a very interesting place - worth a look!
Vasa ship and his replica in the museum
The "Vasa" battleship was built for two years in Stockholm. The construction of the ship was completed in 1628. It was prepared to attack Poland.
The Vasa ship sailed from Stockholm harbor on 10 August 1628 and his cruise was very short. The battleship sank on maiden voyage after a few minutes of sailing.
Vasa's warship was sunk for 333 years. The wreck was located in 1956. In 1961 the ship was excavated from the sea. The museum was opened in 1990.
King Jan III Sobieski Imprisoned
Ship was built to attack Poland. On the bow of the ship you can see the sculpture of imprisoned Polish King Jan III Sobieski. This is funny :-) because the ship sailed only a dozen minutes and sank.
Gallery of Photography - Fotografiska
Impressive photo gallery in Stockholm. Very interesting exhibitions and many photo books to see and buy. Photo taken from the deck of our hotel: M/S Birger Jarl - Hotel & Hostel, Stockholm.
Irving Penn's photography exhibition at the gallery Fotografiska in Stockholm.
Irving Penn photography exhibition. I really liked the way photos are presented!
The Nobel Prize Museum - in my opinion is a museum for science enthusiasts ...
Museum of the Swedish band ABBA. There you can see everything about the band, listen to music or even take part in a performance with the band.

We stayed here:
M/S Birger Jarl - Hotel & Hostel, Stockholm
Cheap hostel very close to the center of Stockholm. The hotel is on the ship next to the Photographic Museum (Fotografiska) in Stockholm.
You can choose from a variety of cabin options from the cheapest multi-person room without bathroom, to cabin with window and bathroom - very different standards and prices.
The rooms are small but the proximity to the center and the waterbus stop (just behind the stern of the ship) are very good.
Free WiFi
The breakfasts were good.
