Snow-covered forests and fields, ice lakes, towns hidden under the white snow blanket that masks all the imperfections of this world. Winter landscapes in Masuria are amazing, and places known from other seasons become completely unrecognizable!

Masuria in winter is a completely different world - instead of a cruise on the lake, you can walk or skate on it. In early March, after very frosty nights on Lake Kirsajty, the ice was very thick.
In winter, Masurian cities are very quiet. There are practically no tourists here. You can visit and admire the monuments in peace.
It is worth visiting Masurian tourist attractions in winter. During our winter trip, we visited Święta Lipka.
Dejnowo Lake is a 4 kilometers long and 33 meters deep gutter lake in the Mrągowo Lake District. There is Święta Lipka at the northern end of the lake, and Pilec at the southern end.
The marina in Sztynort, known to all sailors, looks a bit abstract in winter. It is hard to imagine that in summer there is a problem with finding a place to moor a boat.
Harsz Lake is 2.8 kilometers long, the maximum depth is 47 meters. The lake is connected with Lake Mamry by a watercourse. On this beautiful winter's day, several anglers were seen fishing in ice holes on the lake.
It is usually colder in Masuria than in other regions of Poland. It happens that the lakes are covered with such a thick layer of ice that you can drive a quad bike or a car on them. The photo shows abstract traces of such a crazy rally on a frozen lake.
In winter, it is also worth visiting Reszel. Here you can go back in time and live in one of several chambers in a medieval castle. I also recommend the castle restaurant - delicious food and a very interesting interior. See more pictures from Reszel and the castle.
Winter view of the Sztynorcki Bridge
Sztynorcki Bridge between the lakes Kirsjaty (left) and Dargin (right). There is a bar by the bridge and there is also a quay where you can moor in the summer season.
Ryn and Lake Ryńskie are covered with ice
The warm light of the setting sun tries to warm up a frosty afternoon in Ryn.
Masuria becomes harsh and very quiet in winter. These endless white landscapes have the power of attraction. You can see more photos from this beautiful region in Poland in the galleries: Masurian Lakeland, Autumn in Masuria.
