Masuria is a region of a thousand lakes, offering many opportunities for active and relaxing recreation. One of the most popular ways to spend a summer vacation in Masuria is a sailing or motorboat cruise. During the cruise, you can admire the beauty of nature and visit interesting towns. A yacht gives you freedom because you don't have to stay in marinas. You can sail away from noisy places at night and find a quiet bay to contemplate nature in silence. A cruise on the Masurian lakes is an unforgettable experience.
A voyage through the lake district
Sailing through the lakes is a great way to spend your summer vacation. The Masurian Lake District is one of the most beautiful regions in Poland. It is home to over 2,600 lakes, including the largest lake in Poland, Śniardwy, as well as Mamry, Niegocin, Orzysz, Jagodne, and Tałty. It is a paradise for sailors, kayakers, and nature lovers.
Where is the most beautiful place in Masuria?
Mazury are stunning when seen from the water. From a yacht, you can explore hidden coves and islands that are inaccessible by land. But even more breathtaking is the view from above. This photo shows the southern part of Lake Kisajno, which is dotted with islands and bays. It's one of the most beautiful places in the Masurian Lake District, in my opinion.
Port Trygort is a fun and interesting place to stop for a break during a boat trip through the Masurian Lakes. It's a small and quiet marina with a restaurant, a campsite, and a bonfire area, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery.
I love the mornings and evenings in Masuria when the wind dies down, and the sun, hanging low over the horizon, illuminates the landscape with golden light. The colors become saturated and vibrant. In such moments, photography is a magical process of capturing beauty. The photo shows a stunning evening view from the top of a hill overlooking Lake Mamry, the restaurant Góra Wiatrów (Mountain of Winds), and the Trygort marina.
Port Keja in Węgorzewo is a marina located in the picturesque bay of the Węgorapa River. It’s an iconic spot on the sailing map of Masuria, where sailors can meet other crews, enjoy sailor’s food and drinks, and immerse themselves in evening shanty concerts, creating a unique atmosphere.
How do the Masurian Lakes look?
Mazury are a region full of picturesque lakes, rivers, forests, fields, and meadows, offering stunning scenery and clean air. Lakes are characterized by crystal-clear water and are a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, while forests are home to wild nature. Hills add charm to the landscape, and the peaceful surroundings allow for harmony with nature and relaxation.
When is the best time to go to Mazury?
The best time to visit Mazury depends on what you want to do there. If you want to enjoy water sports, the best time is summer, when the weather is warm and sunny. If you want to experience the beauty of nature, the best time is spring or fall, when there are fewer tourists. Even if you've already seen Mazury in these seasons, I recommend visiting in winter as well. On frosty days, when everything is covered in snow, familiar places are transformed into something new and magical. Check out our gallery Winter in Masuria to see for yourself.
Relaxing on a lake is a great way to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and spend time in the peace and quiet of nature. A yacht is also a perfect option for those who don't want to be tied down to one place to stay. You can go on a multi-day cruise, during which you can stay in different places, whether "off the grid" or in marinas. This is a great way to explore new places and have an active vacation.

They are home to many species of animals, including beavers, otters, elk, and even wolves. In addition to lakes and forests, Mazury also has many rivers and wetlands. The Krutynia, Łyna, Sapina, and Pisa rivers are popular kayaking trails, and the wetlands of the Ełk Lakeland are home to many species of birds. In the middle of Lake Kirsajty is a small island called Ostrowik. The island and a part of the lake belong to the Sztynort Nature Reserve. As you can see in the picture, this is one of the favorite places of cormorants. These birds destroy plants and trees, polluting the places where they nest with their droppings.
Masurian lakes are a true paradise for nature lovers. Their shores are overgrown with dense reeds, creating an amazing landscape. These plants provide shelter for many fish, insects, waterfowl, and other animals such as beavers or moose. The shores of the lakes are also an excellent place for observing nature. It is worth mooring your yacht a little further from the shore and going for a sup or kayak to admire the nature.
Sightseeing spots - Sztynort Bridge
Sztynorcki Bridge is a road bridge over Lakes Dargin and Kirsajty, near the Sztynort village. It is a well-known place for all those sailing the Masurian Great Lakes Route as it is passed under when sailing from Węgorzewo through Lake Mamry to the south towards Giżycko. Masuria - what is worth seeing in summer?
Mazury are a region with a rich history and culture. In the summer, it is an ideal place for water sports, such as sailing, kayaking, and swimming. You can also take a boat or motorboat trip. For those who enjoy active recreation, I recommend a kayak trip down the Krutynia River. It is one of the most popular attractions in Mazury, so it is better not to go on weekends. Giżycko, Mikolajki, Węgorzewo, Mrągowo, Ryn, and Reszel are the most popular and crowded places in the Masurian Lake District. There are really a lot of people there during the summer, but it is worth seeing them - I like to visit such towns before and after the season, for example, June or September are ideal for that. History lovers will surely be interested in the castles in Reszel, Ryn, Kętrzyn, the fortress in Giżycko, the basilica in Święta Lipka and the Wolf's Lair. When visiting Mazury, you cannot forget about Olsztyn - it is a very beautiful and interesting city!
