Fataga is a typical Canarian village situated on the road GC-60 from Maspalomas to Tejeda. It is worth stopping here for a moment to stroll through a maze of narrow streets. Fataga is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Vegueta, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Street and colorful houses in the old city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the historic district of Vegueta.
Cathedral of Santa Ana, Las Palmas
Cathedral of Santa Ana (Catedral de Santa Ana Las Palmas) on the Plaza Mayor of Santa Ana in the historic district of Vegueta.
Plaza de Santa Ana in Las Palmas
Plaza de Santa Ana (Plaza Mayor of Santa Ana) - Vequeta in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The bronze dogs statues guarding the square and the cathedral. Why dogs? Dogs are the symbol of the Canary Islands - even the name of the islands comes from the Latin word canis - a dog.
Houses on the hill in Las Palmas
Gran Canaria surprised us with color - after Lanzarote, where almost all the buildings were white, is a big change. These colors enliven the cities.
The charming, quiet and peaceful square - Plaza de Santo Domingo in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Coast in Las Palmas. There is a nice restaurant Amigo Camilo on the rocks. They serve a very good fresh fish - speaks only Spanish and no menu - but we were able to order food using the universal language of hands :-)
There is a small town of El Roque built on a rocky peninsula on the north coast of Gran Canaria. This place is impressive!
Such colorful terraces on the roofs of houses look amazing - I like these Canarian colorful mosaics in architecture.
Puerto Rico is a typical tourist town on the southern coast of the island - hotels, apartments, beaches, marina - summer all year round! I took this picture at the beginning of January.
To this amazing village on the rocky north coast of Gran Canaria, the road leads through a maze of banana plantations. This is a very interesting route - the road is surrounded by a high wall and you often have to stop before the intersection to look around the corner. I recommend getting to Caleta de Arriba from the side of Gáldar.
The colorful houses of Becerril de Guía and La Atalaya on the steep slopes of Montana de Galdar.
Puerto Rico - a small tourist town in the valley with a beautiful sandy beach. But for me a little too much hotels and tourists.
Looking for summer in January - go to Gran Canaria - a temperature about 22-24° C, sun and beautiful beaches.
There are many hotels in Maspalomas. There are luxury five star hotels located at the beach. There are also many cheap hotels away from the ocean coast. Here you can choose and book the hotel: BOOK HOTEL IN MASPALOMAS
The Maspalomas lighthouse (Faro de Maspalomas) 56 meters high - a historic lighthouse built in 1890.
Small, typically Canarian village on a mountain slope - a beautiful place to watch the sunset. Photo made during a ride road GC-606 - only 12 km away and drove over an hour. This is probably the most hellish road I was driving - should be called GC-666 :-) You can see this way to the spherical image.
Discover the island by car! Renting a car is a great idea to explore Gran Canaria if you like to drive a car through the mountains - trails here are really interesting :-) Photo of El Toscón on Gran Canaria.
Windmill in El Molino de Viento at the GC-200 road. See what cool kettles stand next to the windmill - here you can feel like a dwarf :-)
Small, maybe not luxurious but it is a beautiful and warm place ... Covered terrace and a few meters to the beach - what more could you want ... Playa de Tauro, Mogán.
Canarian house in the mountains
Interesting, colorful, different ... But the view from the living room must be nice because the landscapes around are amazing!
Beautiful place, amazing views in the first line of buildings at the ocean ... Colorfully, happily, artistically - what more could you want?
Houses on the slope of the ravine
There you can often see houses on the steep slopes of valleys and ravines in the mountains of Gran Canaria. Sometimes the building is added to a natural cave.
I have always admired people who build houses right next to the sea or ocean, especially with the current information about rising water levels around the world...
I love watching Canarian cities from above - hundreds of colorful roofs and labyrinths of streets!
There is Puerto de Sardina in the northwest of the island. We got there just before sunset, which was already very low on the horizon and illuminated the buildings with a beautiful pink light.
