Wrota Chałubińskiego 2022 m (The Chałubiński Gate) is a narrow pass located between Szpiglasowy Wierch and Kopa nad Wrotami in the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains. You can go to this mountain pass along the red trekking trail through Dolina za Mnichem. Going down from Szpiglasowy Wierch to Morskie Oko, we turned right onto the hiking trail to see this beautiful part of the Tatra Mountains.
Trail from Morskie Oko to Szpiglasowy Wierch
You can enter Wrota Chałubińskiego from Morskie Oko or through Spiglasowy Wierch from Dolina Pięciu Stawów.
You should turn from the yellow hiking trail to the red one, which leads straight to the pass through the Dolina za Mnichem (Valley Behind Monk). I marked the beginning of the red trail on the map.
The red trail to the Chałubiński Gates
The trail is not long because it is about 1.2 kilometers long, but due to the very steep climb, it can take up to an hour to get to the top.
There, at the top of the Mnich (The Monk), you can see a man! There is no hiking trail leading to this rock - but you can go there with a mountain guide. Who knows, maybe we will go one day. There you can see the highest Polish mountain - Rysy behind the Monk.
There are no chains on the trail, but the ascent becomes steeper with each step.
We reached the pass after less than 50 minutes. There is a strong wind on the pass, as usual in the passes.
Landscapes - Wrota Chałubiński
There you can admire the amazing mountain scenery from the mountain pass. The photo shows a view of the Slovak Tatras: the Ciemnosmreczyńska Valley and the Wyżny Ciemnosmreczyński Staw and the slopes of Koprowy Wierch..
We started going down to the valley after several minutes of admiring the mountain views.

Mountain shelter at Morskie Oko
We followed the yellow hiking trail to Morskie Oko from Dolina za Mnichem. From there, we followed the blue trail back to The Valley of Five Ponds.
