Monuments and tourist attractions of Chelmno and the surrounding area. Chełmno, somewhat forgotten today, is one of the oldest cities in northern Poland and the capital of the Chełmno Land. Chełmno has a well-preserved medieval center, defensive walls, six Gothic churches, many tenement houses and a Renaissance town hall in the middle of a large market square. You can walk around the old town in Chełmno, admire the well-preserved monuments, visit the museum in the town hall, see the park of miniature Teutonic castles. You can also go on the surrounding tourist routes and reach Góra Św. Wawrzyniec near the village of Kałdus, where originally there was a Chełmno stronghold built in the 11th century by the Piasts.
We went to Chełmno for the October weekend. The weather was quite good - it was warm and it was not raining. The sun shone on Sunday afternoon. Ideal conditions to take a few photos - it was worth waiting for such a "weather window" :-)
