The high snowy Alps mountains, around the Ziller Valley in Austria, are ideal for skiing. There are ski stations with perfectly prepared ski runs, efficient and fast ski lifts, and very good mountain bars and restaurants. Zillertal Arena is in my opinion one of the best ski resorts in the region. There are over 140 km of ski runs and over 50 ski lifts in the Zillertal Ski Arena. You can ski between towns: Zell im Zillertal, Gerlos, Königsleiten and Krimml in the center of Tyrol.
The Alps in Tyrol welcomed us with light frost, fresh snow and beautiful weather at the beginning of March. There the Ziller Valley and the gondola lift Karspitzbahn, which starts in Zell am Ziller at an altitude of about 580 m and goes up to 2116 m a.s.l.

The ski slopes at Zillertal Arena
The ski slopes at Zillertal Arena were covered with a layer of snow over two meters high in the first days of March. The groomers prepared slopes for skiers every evening so that they were ready to open the resort at 8 am.

View of the Ziller Valley from the red downhill route 18. The ski resorts are located high in the mountains (the highest point in the Zillertal Arena is 2500 m). Therefore, the valley is already green and the temperatures are above zero but in the mountains still frost and snow.

The Zillertal Arena ski slopes can be reached from three towns: Zell am Ziller, Gerlos and Königsleiten.

There are several ski resorts in the Ziller Valley in the Austrian Alps: Hochzillertal, Zillertal Arena, Hintertux, Penken, Horberg, Rastkogel, Eggalm, Ahorn, Hochfügen, Spieljoch. You can buy Zillertal Superskipass to be able to use them all. It authorizes you to use all ski lifts, 535 kilometers of groomed pistes in the Ziller Valley as well as free ski buses and the Ziller Valley train.

Bar in the mountains - Arena Stadl
The Zillertal Arena has 31 winter bars and Alpine inns. You can eat well, drink something warming and relax during the break between skiing. There is the Arena Stadl mountain bar at an altitude of 2408 m in the photo.

Ski runs at the Zillertal Ski Arena
There are 143 kilometers of ski runs in the Zillertal Ski Arena: 11 km black, 89 km red, 43 km blue. There are also downhill runs with time and speed measurement, snow park and halfpipe in Gerlos.

Arena Center - a large bar and restaurant on the slopes of the ski resort. Food in these mountain bars was usually very tasty. We liked the food the most at the small hut Schihutte Fußalm at route 39 from Königsleitenspitze.

Ski lifts and pistes above Königsleiten are the farthest part of the ski area from the Zillertal valley.

There are 52 modern chair lifts and gondola lifts at the Zillertal Arena. It is the largest ski resort in the Ziller River valley.

Zillertal Arena is my favorite ski resort in the Ziller Valley. High rocky mountains, beautiful Alpine views and trails of varying difficulty will allow everyone to find something for themselves. Here everyone will spend a nice and sporty winter vacation!
