Photo report from ski trip to Austria. Skiing in the Rastkogel and Eggalm ski areas in the Zillertal Valley.
We were welcomed by foggy slopes and heavy snowfall at the Eggalm ski resort on the first day of skiing. A photo of the stream near the Vogelnest bar.
The ski slopes in Austria are steep and wide. Ski resorts are located high so the snow is perfectly frozen.
The weather in the Alps was changing that day. There was a strong wind, clouds quickly passed over peaks and valleys.
Ski route from Rastkogel to Eggalm
You can take the ski-run through the forest from Rastkogel to Eggalm - it's a very nice route!
The weather in the mountains is always unpredictable and variable. For the first two days there was a strong wind and the clouds were low. The weather changed on the second day in the afternoon. The Alps peaks showed up in the clouds.
If you prefer to ride on easier ski routes, I recommend the Rastkogel ski resort. The blue routes are really not very steep here.
Rastkogel is located between the Eggalm and Penken ski resorts. The resorts are connected and you can ski between the three ski stations. The total length of routes in Rastkogel is 27 km - blue routes 10 km, red 11 km and black 6 km.
You can have a meal and relax while admiring the amazing alpine views during skiing breaks.
Stunning views from the Rastkogel (2 762 m) slopes to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. More mountain landscapes in the gallery: Zillertal Winter.
We had perfect skiing conditions in February in Austria - a lot of snow, frost and sun!
The Zillertal Valley in Austria is the perfect place for skiing! The Zillertaler Superskipass allows you to enjoy 515 km of ski runs and 179 ski lifts in the entire Zillertal valley and on the Hinterux glacier.
