Snow-covered fields and hills, frozen lakes, frosted trees - winter in Kashubia looks fabulous. I invite you to watch the Kashubian landscapes in winter.
The Kashubian winter landscape is amazing! Frozen lakes surrounded by snow-covered fields and forests, small villages hidden in the valleys between the hills and towering over everything Wieżyca, which you can see on the horizon.
On this frosty morning the temperature dropped to -15 degrees Celsius (-5 F). A rime appeared on the trees, and the lake slowly began to freeze. Add to that a cloudless sky and the sun illuminating it all, and we have a beautiful winter picture - I love such a winter!
Flying a drone in winter with significant frost is a big challenge for the equipment and the operator. Before taking off the drone, it is worth keeping the batteries in the inside pocket of the jacket to keep them warm. You need to wear gloves on your hands, but the ones that the touch screen of the phone responds to. It is also worth checking in the manual to what temperatures the drone is adapted to, because, unfortunately, cheaper models often have to fly at temperatures above zero degrees Celsius. And in addition, you must bear in mind that the drone's batteries discharge much faster in the cold, so it is worth ending the flight with 25-30% battery charge.

I like to observe the world from a drone looking vertically down. From this perspective, even ordinary trees in a forest can look like distant galaxies or unknown universes.
It's been cold for a few days now and there's ice cover on the lakes. The ice is still too thin to walk on, but it looks interesting from above. For a person to be safe on ice, its thickness should be about 10 centimeters but apparently ice 25-30 cm thick can hold a passenger car ... but I'm not going to check it :-)
Flying a drone in very cold weather is a risky business because the batteries do not last as long as at higher temperatures, and with high humidity, ice can start to form on the drone, which can lead to the drone falling.
I like such frosty and sunny winter mornings when rime appears on the trees.

Stepping onto frozen lakes is always risky. The strength of the ice cover depends on many factors. New, fresh ice is usually called black ice and it is stronger than old ice (gray ice or snow ice). Gray ice or snow ice can have up to 50% less strength compared to black ice.
The following data is for fresh, crystalline ice (black ice):
The minimum thickness of ice on which you can fish is 10 cm
The 12 cm thick ice is safe for snowmobiles, motorbikes and iceboats
20 - 30 cm thick ice holds cars
Ice with a thickness of 30 - 38 cm holds off-road vehicles and small buses
Black ice in waters with water currents can have up to 20% less strength.
Klonowo Dolne is a small village picturesquely situated on Lake Klonowski in the valley of the Reknica River, which is a tributary of the Radunia River. If you like cycling in the mountains, I recommend this area because there are a lot of steep hills.
The snow-covered forest looks amazing from above - such views hypnotize me!
Snow-covered fields and forests
This year winter came for a moment and showed its most beautiful side. I like winter, but only when there is frost and snow. The whole world then changes - it becomes bright and clean, and all dirt and imperfections disappear under the white cover.
The peninsula on the lake seen from above looks like a white fractal. Nature is one of my favorite subjects to photograph. To see more photos from this place, be sure to visit the gallery: Przywidz settlement.
Snow in winter is a brilliant ally of the photographer - it masks all the shortcomings of the landscape, minimizes the amount of colors and acts as a natural reflector, illuminating all the shadows. The photos are bright, delicate and almost monochrome.
