The Old Town in Gdańsk is the part of Śródmieście located north of the Main Town and is the oldest area of the city. You may be surprised by the fact that this is not the historic district (Main Town) known to everyone, where you can see: St. Mary's Basilica, Crane, Artus Court, Golden Gate, Neptune Fountain and the most famous streets: Długa, Mariacka, Piwna.
The Old Town was largely destroyed during World War II, but still many monuments can be admired here: the Old Town Hall from 1589, the medieval Great Mill, the Gothic Small Mill, the Gdańsk Główny Railway Station, the Church of St. Catherine, Basilica of St. Bridget.
