Wawel Cathedral

Wawel Cathedral

On the majestic Wawel Hill rises the Archcathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Wacław, a monumental testament to Polish history and culture. Since the 14th century, this temple has served as the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Krakow, being not only a place of prayer but also a symbol of national identity. Wawel Cathedral is primarily the site of the coronations of Polish kings. 17 monarchs ascended the throne in this sacred space. Their remains rest in the Royal Tombs, a monument to the past and a link to the great history of the nation.
