On the third day around noon we bought (for around 5 euros) train tickets to Milan and went to visit this huge metropolis. Traveling around Italy by train is fast and efficient. In my opinion, it is not worth renting a car for such city tours because you will have a big problem finding parking spaces. It is better to find apartments in the center or use public transport.
