For me, it’s one of the most charming seaside towns on the Polish coast that I’ve seen. There’s a certain harmony to it – many old buildings that fit together stylistically. They don’t feel random or out of place. Ustka has preserved its historical urban layout, which gives the town character and lets you feel the rhythm of a time before seaside tourism even existed. A walk around Czerwonych Kosynierów and Marynarki Polskiej streets reveals traces of the old fishing settlement. This is where the first houses began to appear among the dunes as early as the 11th century. Most were timber-framed buildings, a style typical for Pomerania. Only a few of them remain today.
