Yes, since 2023, Gdańsk has been the largest city in Poland in terms of area, surpassing Warsaw. This change was made possible by new regulations that allowed the expansion of Gdańsk’s administrative boundaries to include the waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk up to the baseline of the territorial sea. As a result, the area of Gdańsk increased to 683 square kilometers, while Warsaw covers 517.2 square kilometers. The difference of over 150 square kilometers placed Gdańsk at the top of the ranking of the largest cities in the country by territory.
