The largest city in Poland

The largest city in Poland

Since 2023, Gdańsk has become the largest city in Poland in terms of area. This was made possible by new regulations that changed the administrative boundaries of cities and revised maritime borders. The territory of Gdańsk was expanded to include the waters of the Gdańsk Bay up to the baseline of the territorial sea, significantly increasing the city's size. Gdańsk now covers an area of 683 km², surpassing the previous leader, Warsaw, whose area is 517.2 km². This marks a major shift in the ranking of Polish cities and has caught the attention of urban planning experts. The new borders of Gdańsk reflect how deeply the city is connected to the sea - not only culturally and economically, but now also officially.
