Gdynia owes its creation to Tadeusz Wenda, an engineer who designed the construction of the port in the region. Thanks to his work, Gdynia, initially a small fishing settlement, transformed into a modern port city. His vision and commitment to building the port infrastructure became the foundation for the city's further development. The construction of the port in Gdynia began in 1921. Initially, it was a temporary military port and a shelter for fishermen. In 1923, the first harbor basin was opened, and expansion work on the port continued throughout the interwar period.
