Monuments in Starogard Gdański

Starogard Gdański is a city that has preserved many important landmarks, reflecting its rich history. In the heart of the city, there is the old town, surrounded by fragments of medieval defensive walls. Notable are the 14th-century defensive towers: Gdańska, Książęca, and Tczewska. Near the market square, there are two churches: the Gothic St. Matthew's Church from the 14th century and the post-Reformation St. Catherine's Church from the 18th and 19th centuries. Starogard also features the impressive Wiechert Palace, the former Wiechert Mills, and the Court Building, which are valuable examples of 19th-century architecture. Attention should also be paid to the Synagogue, the only Jewish house of worship in Kociewie, dating back to 1849, and the Stallion Stud, established in 1897. Additionally, the Museum of Kociewie Land and the Museum of the 2nd Regiment of Rokitno Horse Guards offer a rich collection of memorabilia and exhibits related to the region's history.
