Łeba and its surroundings from a bird's eye view.
In this gallery, you will find photos of Łeba in Poland and its surroundings that I took during a weekend in September. We enjoy visiting popular seaside resorts outside the holiday season. It's a chance to see a completely different side of these places. Almost empty streets and beaches, no trouble finding a spot in restaurants and cafes, and bike paths and tourist attractions are free from hordes of tourists.
The weather in September was fantastic – warm, sunny, and almost windless. At times, we felt almost surreal – as if suspended in time – because the silence was absolute. There was no sound of the sea, wind, or trees. This sensory deprivation was an extraordinary and very pleasant experience.
We spent this peaceful time on cycling trips along beautiful routes through coastal forests and beaches. We also visited the dunes in the Słowiński National Park.
If you enjoyed these photos of Łeba and its surroundings, I have great news for you. Łeba is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Poland, renowned for its wide, sandy beaches and unique microclimate. Its proximity to the Słowiński National Park, filled with attractions such as moving sand dunes, makes the town an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. Additionally, Łeba offers numerous opportunities for active tourists – from windsurfing to hiking and cycling along picturesque trails in the area. In the drone photo, you can see the town center and Lake Łebsko on the horizon.

The town offers not only beautiful beaches but also cycling and walking trails that wind through coastal forests and dunes. A stroll along Kościuszko Street’s promenade is a must for every visitor—it’s filled with shops, restaurants, bars, and cafés. The marina and fishing port are also worth exploring; you can take a boat trip or enjoy fresh fish there. Don’t miss the Słowiński National Park with its unique shifting dunes, as well as other attractions like Labyrinth Park Łeba, the Butterfly Museum, Funlandia Inflatable Amusement Park, Magic Mirrors, and the Amber Museum in Łeba.
Let’s take a bird’s-eye view of Łeba. In the foreground, you can see the port with excursion boats and numerous fishing vessels. A bit further to the left, the famous promenade (Tadeusz Kościuszko Street) comes into view, where tourists enjoy strolling among shops, bars, restaurants, and cafés.
The beaches in Łeba are among the most beautiful spots on the Polish coast. They are exceptionally wide and stretch over 10 kilometers in length. The Łeba River flows into the Baltic Sea, dividing the beach into two separate parts – the eastern and the western sections. During the summer, the beach offers lifeguarded swimming areas, dining options, and various attractions. Visiting the beach in the evening is also a must – the sound of the waves and the view of the setting sun create a perfect backdrop for a romantic walk.
The beach in Łeba is divided into three main sections: A (closest to the center), B (western), and C (eastern). The eastern beach is farther from the center, making it much quieter and less crowded than beach A. It is also worth mentioning that there are designated areas on this beach where dogs are allowed.
The Łeba River, flowing into the Baltic Sea, divides the beaches in Łeba into two parts: the eastern and the western. The Western Beach is more intimate, with fewer tourists than the eastern one. Thanks to its wide sandy strip and supervised bathing area, it is a great place to relax. The beach is easily accessible from Turystyczna Street.
Łeba offers a nudist beach located to the west of the town, 500 meters from Turystyczna Street. It is a 300-meter stretch of beach specially designated for those who wish to sunbathe nude. It was opened in 2017 to meet the needs of tourists who wanted to avoid public beaches where topless sunbathing was an issue. Today, it is a popular spot where naturists can enjoy the beach in peace.
There are two ports in Łeba. The marina is a modern harbor where you can admire yachts and sailboats. The fishing port, on the other hand, is where fishing boats and excursion ships dock, and tourists can take advantage of sightseeing or fishing trips.
The marina in Łeba is a place that attracts sailors from all over Poland and abroad. This modern yacht harbor is well-equipped and offers mooring spaces for vessels of various sizes. The marina area includes a hotel and restaurant, where visitors can taste local specialties, and there are other dining and accommodation options nearby. A large playground is available for families with children. Tourists can rent water sports equipment, fishing boats, or embark on a cruise along the Baltic coastline. There is also a camping site near the marina, available for motorhome owners. It serves as an excellent base for exploring, located just a few steps from the western beach in Łeba.
The Fisherman's Port in Łeba is a place that combines both fishing and tourist functions. It is located at the mouth of the Łeba River and the Chełst River, near Lake Sarbsko and Lake Łebsko. From the port, you can take a boat trip on the Baltic Sea. The port also houses a SAR rescue station, and nearby is the Border Guard, which manages both fishing and tourist traffic.
The Sea from a Bird’s Eye View
The view of the Baltic Sea from above captivates with its stunning array of colors, ranging from deep navy to turquoise and emerald green. From this perspective, the transitions between shallows, sandbanks, and deeper parts of the sea are clearly visible. The white sandy beaches east of Łeba contrast beautifully with the vibrant water hues, creating a landscape perfect for aerial photography.
The Castle in Łeba is a gem of the Polish coast, perfectly located right by the beach. Built in 1907 as a spa house, this historic building has weathered many storms and now thrives as a luxurious hotel. The castle's distinctive tower, surrounded by dense forests and the blue expanse of the sea, creates an unforgettable landscape. Guests can enjoy relaxing treatments at the spa and unwind in the outdoor pool, embracing the tranquility and beauty of the surroundings.
Łeba in Poland, although a small town with about three thousand residents, transforms completely during the summer season. Thousands of tourists from Poland and abroad fill the streets, beaches, and local attractions, making the town seem much larger. With its lively center, full of restaurants, cafes, and promenades, Łeba gains a unique holiday atmosphere that attracts more and more visitors each year.
Kościuszki Street is the main promenade in Łeba. It is an ideal place for walks, full of shops, cafes, and restaurants. An important landmark on the promenade is the bench with a dog, commemorating Danuta Hryniewicz, a resident of Łeba, who had a significant impact on the breeding of Polish Lowland Sheepdogs. Along the promenade is the Alley of Presidents, where the handprints of all Polish presidents can be found. The promenade is accessible for both walking and cycling. While it might be busier in the summer, in September there were few people, making it easy to ride a bike.
Łeba is a great base for exploring the surrounding attractions, especially if you enjoy cycling. It's the best way to get around the city and its surroundings. If you don’t have your own bike, you can always rent one. You can cycle to Słowiński National Park, famous for its moving dunes. On the way to the dunes, history enthusiasts should visit the Rocket Launch Site Museum, where they can learn about the secrets of the German rocket testing range from World War II. For lighthouse fans, the ideal destination would be a trip to the Stilo Lighthouse (marked on the Google map below) or the Czołpino Lighthouse (though this is a slightly longer trip). Lake Sarbsko is a perfect spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts, while Lake Łebsko attracts anglers. Additionally, the area around Łeba offers numerous hiking and cycling trails, including part of the EuroVelo R-10 Coastal Bicycle Route.
The Sarbsko Spit is a narrow strip of land that separates the Baltic Sea from Sarbsko Lake. It is about 1 km wide and is protected by coastal dunes that reach a height of 24 meters. This area is full of beautiful landscapes and unique vegetation, including protected plant species. Sarbsko Lake is 6.6 kilometers long, 1.2 kilometers wide, and is very shallow, with an average depth of 1.2 meters and a maximum depth of 3.2 meters. The lake is popular among anglers who fish for pike, zander, perch, bream, roach, and eel. To fish legally here, a permit must be obtained. Additionally, due to its location, the lake is an excellent spot for water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
From a bird's-eye view, the Baltic Sea captivates with its vibrant water colors. In a top-down shot, where the drone's camera looks directly downward, we can see a surprising palette of shades. White sandy beaches further highlight these beautiful contrasts, completing the abstract painting of nature. This view is truly a feast for the eyes. It's no wonder I love flying my drone along the beaches and admiring the scenery, as these landscapes aren't as spectacular from ground level.
Łeba is one of the gems of the Kashubian region. For centuries, this coastal town has been inhabited by Kashubians, which has left a deep mark on its history and culture. The heritage of the Kashubian people can be seen in the architecture, traditions, and the language, which is still cherished in the area.
Łeba offers a wide variety of dining options, from restaurants and fish grills to bars, pizzerias, fast food spots, and cafes. It's impossible to try everything, but every food lover will find something to enjoy. We recommend the Chata Rybacka restaurant (I marked it on the Google map) by the port channel, where you can taste excellent fish dishes. If you're in the mood for something sweet, be sure to visit Cafe Nr 5 Palarnia Kawy, which offers delicious cakes and desserts.
Church of St. James the Apostle
The parish dedicated to St. James the Apostle, located at 25 St. James Avenue in Łeba, is a remarkable example of contemporary sacred architecture. Built in the shape of a cross, it captivates with its wooden, arched ceilings resembling the interior of a ship. The church houses the relics of St. James the Greater, the patron saint of pilgrims and fishermen. Directly across from the church is the beautiful John Paul II Park.
Labyrinth Park in Łeba is a huge, natural maze covering 5000 m². Wooden carts are available for families with children, and if necessary, you can purchase a map to help find the exit. In addition to the maze, there are also other attractions nearby. You can try your hand at playing boules, or enjoy dozens of large-scale dexterity, logic, and puzzle games. Family Place offers activities that develop mental and physical skills for both children and adults.
The beach in Łeba is the perfect spot for a romantic walk at sunset.
Łeba - Hotel with a Pool by the Beach
If you're looking for a luxury hotel with a pool near the beach in Łeba, Zamek Łeba is the perfect choice. This stylish spa hotel, located right by the sea, offers relaxation in comfortable surroundings and access to an outdoor pool.
Admiring Łeba from a bird's eye view is an unforgettable experience. The lack of military airspace in this region allows for unrestricted drone flights, but it's important to remain cautious and watch out for advertising planes, paragliders, or other flying enthusiasts who may appear in the area. It's also essential to remember that the area west of the Łeba River and Lake Łebsko is within the boundaries of the National Park, meaning drone flights are prohibited without prior permission from the park's administration.
