Our skiing adventure in Andorra began with a flight from Gdańsk to Barcelona, which took about three hours. It was a quick and comfortable way to travel from snowy Poland to the warm climate of Spain. Upon arrival, we were greeted by around 14°C, which raised some concerns about whether we would find enough snow in Andorra for skiing. After picking up our luggage, we got into the car and headed towards the Pyrenees. The drive from Barcelona to Encamp, a picturesque town in Andorra, took us about three hours. As we got closer to Andorra, snow began to appear on the mountain peaks, and our hope grew that our skis might actually be useful after all.

Pirenees - Winter Mountain Photos
To take this photo, I spent only a few minutes at the mountaintop, but I thought I would freeze my hands off because the cold was intense, and the wind was quite strong. However, this winter view of the Pyrenees made up for the brief moment of cold.
Grandvalira is the largest ski area in Andorra and one of the largest in Europe outside the Alps, with 139 slopes covering a total of 210 km. The resort combines the Pas de la Casa/Grau Roig and Soldeu/El Tarter stations, offering skiers and snowboarders exceptional conditions for skiing. The varied length of the slopes, which range from 1710 m to 2822 m above sea level, makes the resort ideal for both beginners and advanced skiers. The panorama of the Pyrenees showcases vast, snow-covered ski slopes and impressive, rocky peaks rising up towards the deep blue sky. The skiing conditions were perfect – clear skies and sunshine, and although it was really cold at the peaks, the snow was ideal.
In Andorra, the ski slopes were not only long and varied but also very well-prepared, making the skiing experience a pure pleasure. The easiest slopes had ski schools, but thanks to the wide selection of tracks, it was always possible to find less crowded sections. The only downside of the chairlifts was the lack of shields, which could be uncomfortable in strong winds. Nevertheless, the skiing conditions were excellent, and the panoramas of the Pyrenees were unforgettable. Andorra Grandvalira, the largest ski resort in the Pyrenees, offers over 210 km of ski slopes, including 139 tracks of varying difficulty: 98 km of easy slopes, 79 km of intermediate, and 33 km of difficult ones.
Frost, snow, sunshine, steep mountains, and well-prepared slopes created excellent skiing conditions we encountered in Andorra. In the valleys, the temperature was around freezing, while the peaks were extremely cold. Winter in Andorra was surprising for us because, when flying to Barcelona, we were filled with concerns.
