The Augustów Forest is one of the largest forest complexes in Poland, spanning the Podlaskie Voivodeship and parts of Lithuania and Belarus. Its total area is around 160,000 hectares, with over 114,000 hectares located within Poland. Over 85% of the forest is covered by pine woods, including the unique Augustów pine, and spruce trees, some of which reach heights of 30–40 meters. The forest is home to many rare and endangered plant species, including northern relicts like dwarf birch and sundews. Valuable peat bogs, wet and marshy pine forests, as well as alder woods, also thrive here, making the Augustów Forest an incredibly diverse ecosystem.
