For me, the best beaches in Augustów are those intimate ones, hidden in the forest, in charming little coves. I love spending time in such places where there aren’t too many people, and the surrounding nature allows for complete relaxation. The crystal-clear waters of the lake invite you to swim, and the silence and tranquility make it possible to truly unwind. These are the perfect conditions to savor the beauty of nature and recharge your energy for the days ahead. You can find such wild beaches on the southern shore of Lake Białe Augustowskie.
Augustów captivates with its heart, the Market Square of Sigismund Augustus. This charming place, laid out in 1550 by the builder of royal fortresses, Job Praetfuess, serves as the city's central point. The restored tenements from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries surrounding the square give it a unique character. In the heart of the Market Square lies a beautiful park, established in 1847 and once known as the Saxon Garden. Here, we can admire the column of Sigismund II Augustus and a fountain that complete the picturesque view. The drone photo shows how harmoniously nature coexists with architecture, creating the perfect place for relaxation and strolls.

The coat of arms serves as a reminder that Augustów lies on the border of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania. The letters S and A represent the monogram of Sigismund II Augustus, while the smaller P and R stand for Poloniae Rex (King of Poland). This coat of arms not only decorates the city but also evokes its rich history and traditions.

During World War II, it was occupied by invaders, and after the war, education resumed in the building. In 1997, the patronage of Marshal Józef Piłsudski was restored. The revitalization that began in 2018 is the largest such undertaking in the history of Augustów, giving new purpose to this historic site.
